As others have said, 'The VueScan Bible' is the manual that should have but did not come with the software. The book author has had assistance from the VueScan author, Ed Hamrick, and provides a much more detailed description of the various functions as well as advice on how to use them. VueScan is the easiest way to get your scanner working on macOS Big Sur, Windows 10 and more. VueScan includes a driver for your scanner even though it isn't support anymore. Despite its popularity, the documentation for VueScan does not provide enough information to use the full power of the system and makes it difficult to get started. The VueScan Bible is the missing manual for new, experienced, and prospective users of VueScan. Histograms are graphs that display the distribution of tones and colors in the scanned image. Dark tones are indicated at the left end of the x-axis of the graph, light tones at the right end, and midtones are in the middle.

To upgrade to the latest version of VueScan, just click the version you want in the table above. It will automatically recognize if you've already purchased it, and the latest version should just work. You don't need to uninstall old versions before upgrading.
